Our hope of someday reintroducing girls and womens footabll at the club received a massive boost thanks to vital funding received from One Stop.

Mulbarton Wanderers and Belles FC would like to thank the lovely people at One Stop and their partner charity Groundworks UK for providing the club with a generous £2,000 grant via our local One Stop store in Mulbarton as part of their 'Carrier for Causes' campaign which is explained below.

"We’re really pleased that we have our ‘Carrier for Causes’ grants of up to £2,000 available to give good causes within a two mile radius of any of our stores. The grants will be available to support projects that benefit local communities - helping to improve lives and local places.

Our ‘Carriers for Causes’ grants are funded through the money raised from the 5p bag charge in One Stop Stores in England, Wales and Scotland.

The types of projects funded will be very broad and will cover the direct costs needed to deliver the project, this could be buying litter pickers and bags for a community clean-up day, plants, spades and forks to plant up a new community garden, the cost of a minibus for a day trip for a community group or the materials needed to paint a room at a local hospice."

We are delighted that our application was accepted and the funding will enable us to improve our facilities so that we are in a position to reintroduce girls football at the club which has been one of our long term goals. The first steps are already in place as we have been running the FA's SSE Wildcats Girls' Football initiative since April and we are fully committed to continuing with these sessions throughout the 2018/19 season (and beyond).

The weekly sessions will either take place after school or at weekends and will provide a safe environment where girls can engage with football, meet new friends, develop fundamental skills, learn new things and create the foundation for a lifelong love of football.

After a plea on social media for new coaches we were delighted with the response and will soon be announcing an all-female coaching team who will be guiding the young ladies from next season and beyond.

If you have any girls that would like to attend these sessions, please contact us through the website or send an email to dannygaskin@hotmail.com.
