Wanderers Make it 2 from 2

The blues lost both games against their counterparts last season and knew they would have to be at their best to get anything from the game.

Three changes were made in the starting 11 with Robinson, Doggett and Priest coming in for the absent Hyde, Hill and Butler.

The away side started the strongest and took the lead when a loose ball found Brooks 30 yards out and was smashed into the top corner. Great goal.

This woke up Harleston and they equalised minutes later after some sloppy Mulbarton defending.

The home side then took control of the game and could have taken the lead but Keeper Greg Rowland made a couple of point blank saves to send the teams into the break all square.

Ashman and A.Brown came on at half time and immediately had an affect. Unfortunately the difference Ashman made was getting himself sent off for violent conduct.

Newbery came on to tighten things up with 20 mins remaining, but instead of settling for a point the 10 men of Mulbarton upped their game. Despite being a man down they played some great football & started to created some good openings.

Nurse, who had been replaced at half time, came back on for Babb for the final 10 minutes & it was he that would end up being the match winner.
Some great build up play down the right hand side, ended up with Robinson putting in an inviting ball across the box which Nurse delicately guided into the far post.

Mulbarton held firm for the remaining minutes to record a crucial win against one of the top sides in the division.

Some really good individual performances from Brooks, Priest and A.Brown but it was the determination and team spirit that really shone through. And of course the tactical change made from Sutcliffe 10 minutes from the end, bringing Nurse back on to score the all important goal.
