Match Preview

It's 2nd v 3rd tomorrow afternoon as Wanderers prepare to make the short trip to the Hilltops to take on Norwich CEYMS in what many expect to be a thrilling local derby. We are currently seperated only by two goals and three games in our favour and both teams will be expecting a tough game in Swardeston.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of delivering a tenth consecutive league victory as we overcame St Andrews thanks to Miles Palmer's first goal since returning to the club. Last season's young player of the year showed great strength and desire as he tussled with the experienced Cushing to head us in front on the stroke of half time. Another player who I am sure will soon be rewarded for his endeavour is Jack Simpson. He was desperately unlucky to watch his wonderful strike from distance canon off the crossbar and on another day he could have had a hat-trick. Overall, It wasn't pretty at times but the team dug deep and battled to secure all three points.

As you may have seen on our social media pages we had the pleasure of welcoming the wonderful @FFootballEdit to Mulberry Park to record the game for their new YouTube channel and they produced a fantastic edit which you can see via our match report if you haven't done so already.

Off the pitch it was great to see local fans getting some recognition on Twitter this week as @AnglianCombPoll asked each Premier Division side to nominate a fan in a bid to crown the best in the division. It was great to see Simmo's Dad, John make the final poll after providing many moments of passion and laughter both home and away this season. But in reality you're all winners. No matter which team you follow, you guys that turn up every week are what makes local football special and along with the hundreds of volunteer's deserve all the recognition that comes your way.

CEYMS returned to winning ways last weekend  at home to Waveney as Lewis Swatman grabbed the only goal of the game. This followed a narrow 2-1 defeat away to league leaders Harleston and what sounded like a thrilling 3-3 draw at Acle United. Church have impressed this season after finishing 12th in 2016/17 and were responsible for reigniting the title race with their 6-1 destruction of Harleston back in December. Amis and Allen have been potent in front of goal but more recently the likes of Smith and Swatman have been in good form on this front.
