Wanderers made it three wins from three in 2017 on Saturday

Mulbarton welcomed caister to Mulberry Park looking to extend their good start to 2017 but knew from past experience Caister would have plenty to say about that.

The visitors began the game as the better side playing an attacking 3-5-2 formation. This took the home side a bit of time to adjust to. In that period Caister attacked well having 2 or 3 good efforts from distance.

Once the home side got to grips with the style of the opposition they began imposing themselves on the game with both Potter and Doggett linking well with the forwards.

Midway through the half Doggett and Thompson linked well to find Altay for a simple finish from close range.
This naturally spurred the home side on but didn't discourage Caister who continued to work hard to move the ball and create opportunities which they did from range but Tom Wright in the home goal wasn't found wanting and showed some clean handling.

The home side extended their lead after a period of pressure which saw Potter and Altay miss chances however Doggett made no mistake when good play down the left saw Bland deliver a wicked ball that Altay pulled back for Doggett to tap in.

Half Time 2-0

Second half was a controlled display from the home side, dictating the pace of the game and possession with the comfort of a lead. This isn't to say Caister didn't play in the second half; they certainly did, but the home side limited them to very few efforts for the possession they had.

Midway through the 2nd half Mulbarton effectively ended the game as a contest when Thompson curled a nice ball to the back post where the onrushing Potter neatly tucked away a half volley.

Thompson himself finished off the scoring with a chip from the edge of the area over a stranded keeper.

Credit to Caister who continued to play the right way and pushed forward earning a couple of corners and free kicks in the final third but the home defence held strong for their third clean sheet and victory in a row
