The First Team overcame Attleborough Town on Saturday to move into the Mummery Cup quarter finals.

MWFC visited Attleborough in the mummery cup and if pre season was anything to go by Mulbarton were in for a tough game.

Mulbarton kicked off aand began the early exchanges moving the ball well and looking to attack. However the home side had similar ideas and for the first 20 mins looked the better side carving out a couple of good opportunities getting down the side of the Mulbarton defence. Mulbarton weathered this early storm and began to get a foothold in the game and got in behind the Attleborough defense earning a succession of corners.

Just when the home side would've felt they had seen off the period of pressure from Mulbarton they fell behind. Good play down the right from Durrant, Self and Appleton resulted in Thompson receiving the ball on the edge of the area and being bundled over to earn a free kick just outside the Attleborough area. Self stepped up and bent the free kick around the wall and inside the post.

In this period the home side suffered 2 injury blows with their captain going off with a knock and his replacement going off within 2 minutes of coming on. This naturally affected the home side and Mulbarton saw out to half time having the best of the half in terms of territory, possession and chances.

Mulbarton started the 2nd half very well and again scored when they were having the better of the play. Thompson and Curtis linked well to free Appleton to finish well at the near post to make it 2-0. Mulbarton continued to be in the ascendancy for the next 10 mins but failed to kill the home side off with chances being missed.

As all good sides do Attleborough kept working hard and threw men forward and put Mulbarton under pressure. A succession of free kicks given away out wide by Mulbarton only added fuel to their fire and gave Attleborough the opportunity to put the ball in the box. The visitors defended well but couldn't keep out one too many of these free kicks when Steve Wright headed well from 8 yards out.

Mulbarton regained their composure and kept the ball well in the Attleborough half to see out the game.
