Plenty of Positives Taken From Opening Friendly

Wanderers were beaten 3-1 by Great Yarmouth Town on Tuesday but can take a lot of heart from a spirited and committed performance.

As expected our higher league opposition, having already played 3 games in preseason, started very brightly and their superior match sharpness coupled with some quality passages of play brought about a 2-0 lead in the first half before Wanderers settled themselves into the game.

Mulbarton were able to apply pressure of their own after half an hour but had to wait until the second half before Dale Simpson headed home from a corner.

Chances came at both ends with both keepers making decent stops and defenders throwing themselves in front of shots before The Bloaters hammered home a third goal shortly before the final whistle.

In truth this was a huge test for our lads in their first preseason outing, but one that we learned a great deal from and we can take a lot of positives out of the performance with a few players, new and old, catching the eye.

Thanks to Great Yarmouth Town for the game. A very good team full of pace and quality and we wish you all the very best for the coming season.
