Football Club starts to build for the future

The Club wishes to announce today that members voted last night to approve the formation of a Community Interest Company, a company limited by guarantee and with the purpose of benefitting its community, as a successor organisation to the current unincorporated association. The new organisation will be called Mulbarton Wanderers CIC. It will work to build on the successes of the current Club, building sporting opportunities and facilities for its members and community.

The name of the new company also unites the club under a single name, Mulbarton Wanderers. Following consultation with adult female teams, the players wished to use the single name Wanderers to reflect the unity of the club, which welcomes all players, male and female without differentiation. Where appropriate, Belles will be used within team names. The bells motif on the badge will continue to be used across all teams, honouring the contribution made by Harford Belles and subsequent generations of female players. The company name also does not include Football Club. This change reflects the long term desires to support wider community benefits and projects alongside its football core.

The intended directors will now start the process of forming the new company and agreeing the transfer of assets and liabilities from the existing club as well as agreeing the terms of a lease for our adult ground, Mulberry Park and beginning the process of seeking funding for improvements for both our adult and junior football facilities.

Once the new company is in position to assume all the responsibilities of the existing Club, a further EGM will be called to agree the transfer of assets and liabilities and to close the current unincorporated association. The date of this will be announced in due course.
